...is a London based actress, performer and collaborator. Born in Bulgaria, in a beautiful city by the sea, Marietta discovered her love for acting at a very young age. At the age of four, a teacher spotted Marietta’s musical talents and encouraged her parents to develop them further. Alongside her regular nursery education, Marietta was selected to attend a Music school to play the piano, with her studies being partly funded by the institution itself. After having spent her teenage years in an International Arts School, Marietta became firmly convinced that Acting is her first and foremost passion.
Her journey to furthering this passion took her to summer courses at top UK drama schools such as RADA and LAMDA. This was followed by a couple of successful last-round auditions, before finally being accepted at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she trained for 3 years, graduating with a BA in Acting in 2015. Her training, comprising of classical approaches combined with tools in devising and movement, has provided Marietta with key skills which make her particularly adept at working in an ensemble; bringing ideas into the room, working on her feet and thinking creatively to find solutions when devising. Marietta is pro-active and capable to create her own work starting from Fringe theatre to producing newly written Web Series in which she acts too.
During her training Marietta was approached by emerging theatre directors such as Jordan Blackwood and companies like Red Belly Black Theatre Company, leading her to back-to-back runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014-15. Her credits include “We Were Kings”, which was short-listed for NSDF Award and “Tumbling After”, which received 5-star reviews and will continue its life elsewhere in the future. Marietta is currently working alongside director, Jill Patterson and writer Rebekah Harvey as a deviser and actress. The project, “Why Not Us”, will be opened for the public in 2016. Marietta has never lost her inner child and loves looking after kids in her spare time; relishing the opportunity to play and be silly without any boundaries or censorship.
